Zachary Weston Memorial Scholarship

The Zachary Weston Memorial Scholarship (ZWMS) is offered each June to a graduating senior from Orville H. Platt High School in Meriden, CT. Named in memory of our dear friend and Platt Valedictorian (2001), who disappeared while hiking on Mt. Rainier in 2005, this scholarship is awarded to a student who plans to further their education after high school and who radiates kindness.

To be eligible, students must be nominated by a teacher at Platt High School. They will then be interviewed by our scholarship committee. The award is distributed at graduation.

Fine Arts Grant

Fine Arts Grants are small buckets of funding (up to $500) that the Foundation awards to any high school student attending school in Meriden, CT.  Students must apply online to request support for a distinct, unique project. Any Fine Arts-related project may be considered, including music/vocal lessons, art supplies, equipment, etc. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and are reviewed three times per calendar year.

Q. Walter Peabody Award

On occasion, the foundation distributes a Q. Walter Peabody Award. This is an award for a graduating senior of Orville H. Platt High School who does not quite fit the criteria for the Zachary Weston Memorial Scholarship (ZWMS), but who impresses our committee in a different way. The award is distributed at Senior Night at Platt.
